Frequently asked questions

Learn about our engagement rings, lovingly designed and crafted in-house.

Do you offer both natural and lab grown diamonds?

We work exclusively with natural diamonds and have chosen not to offer lab-grown options. While we respect that the choice between natural and lab-grown stones is personal, we feel the narrative around lab-grown diamonds isn’t always fully transparent.

We source our diamonds through the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, promoting conflict-free origins. In addition, many of our suppliers are accredited members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), ensuring high standards of quality and responsible practices. For more details on why we’ve chosen not to work with lab-grown diamonds, click here.

How much should you spend on an engagement ring?

Deciding how much to spend on an engagement ring is a personal choice. We offer engagement rings starting from around £1,500, accommodating various budgets to help you find a ring that suits your needs.

Whether you prefer a simple solitaire or a more detailed design, our team can assist you in making the right choice. Don’t feel bound by the outdated rule of spending two to three months' salary; focus on what feels right for you.

Are your engagement rings customisable?

Yes, our engagement rings are fully customisable. With a heritage in crafting and design since 1958, we specialise in bespoke creations that are made in-house, ensuring each piece is unique and reflects our commitment to quality.

From sourcing the diamond or coloured gemstone to selecting the metal and design, our team is here to guide you through the process, helping you find a ring that truly suits your style. For those who can’t wait, we also offer an extensive collection of ready-to-wear engagement rings available for immediate purchase.

Do you provide certification for your diamonds?

Yes, we use GIA certified diamonds in our engagement rings, meaning they have been graded by the Gemmological Institute of America, a leading authority in gemmology known for its rigorous grading standards.

Smaller diamonds may be too small for GIA grading or not certified for commercial reasons, such as when the cost of certification is prohibitive compared to the price of the stone; however, they are still picked to the same stringent quality standards.

Can I see the engagement rings in person before purchasing?

Of course. Many of our clients prefer to view our engagement rings in person before making a decision. Our Hatton Garden showroom offers the opportunity to explore our collection and consult with one of our jewellery specialists, who will guide you through the various designs and options tailored to your style and preferences.

We recommend booking an appointment to ensure you receive a personalised experience, allowing us to devote our time and expertise to helping you select the perfect ring.

How should an engagement ring fit?

While everyone wears their engagement ring slightly differently, in our experience, a snug yet comfortable fit is ideal.

If an engagement ring is too loose, diamonds or coloured gemstones may have a tendency to swing on the finger, exposing them to the underside of the hand where they are more likely to be knocked. The style of the engagement ring can also impact how the size feels—a wider band will fit more tightly, while a narrower band will feel looser, even in the same finger size. Our experienced consultants are available in-store to guide you in finding the right fit.

How to clean engagement rings?

To clean your engagement ring, take advantage of our ultrasonic cleaning service, which is the most effective option and included with your purchase.

At home, mix warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid and gently scrub the ring with a child's soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse with water and pat dry—this method works well for platinum and gold diamond engagement rings. It’s normal for the metal to start scratching soon after wearing. While we can arrange a polish, we recommend limiting this to just before your wedding and then every three or so years, as polishing does remove metal from your ring.
