Frequently asked questions

Learn about our diamond band engagement rings, lovingly designed and crafted in-house.

What are diamond band engagement rings?

A diamond band engagement ring features a central stone, complemented by smaller diamonds set into the shoulders (or band). This design enhances the ring’s overall brilliance, adding extra sparkle, and is a popular choice for those looking to elevate the elegance of their engagement ring.

What types of diamond band engagement rings do you offer?

Our diamond band engagement rings can be made with various beautiful central diamond shapes, including round brilliant, oval, and cushion cut. The two most sought-after diamond band settings are the micro-setting and the milgrain setting. The micro-setting secures diamonds with tiny claws on each side, allowing for maximum sparkle, while the milgrain setting offers a charming vintage look.

How do I choose the right diamond for my engagement ring?

Choosing the right diamond for your engagement ring is a personal decision, but it’s important to start with the Four Cs—cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight. Together, these factors provide visibility into the quality of the stone: the cut affects its brilliance, colour measures its whiteness, clarity assesses its flaws, and carat informs us of the weight. While the Four Cs offer a great opening framework, it does not address other important considerations, such as fluorescence, so we recommend checking out our diamond buying guide.

For a diamond band engagement ring, having a GIA-certified centre stone is highly recommended, as GIA is known for its stringent grading standards. Whether you prefer a modern or traditional look, our master jewellers are here to help you create the perfect ring.

What is the price range for diamond band engagement rings?

Deciding how much to spend on a diamond band engagement ring is a personal choice that varies for everyone. Our diamond band engagement rings start from around £1,500, accommodating a range of budgets to help you find the ideal piece for your special moment. Our experienced consultants are here to assist you in selecting the perfect ring that complements your vision and requirements. Don’t feel bound by the outdated rule of spending two to three months' salary; focus on what feels right for you.

Can you add diamonds to an existing engagement ring?

It is sometimes possible to set diamonds into the band of a solitaire or plain shoulder engagement ring. However, this will depend on several factors, including the depth and width of the ring, as well as its age. We recommend bringing your ring to one of our expert jewellers, who can assess it and provide tailored advice on the options available.

Can you resize a diamond band engagement ring?

Yes, resizing a diamond band engagement ring is usually possible, assuming that the smaller diamonds do not travel all the way around the ring. While we can adjust the ring both larger and smaller, it is more challenging than resizing a solitaire engagement ring due to the presence of smaller stones. As such, we often find ourselves limited in how many sizes we can adjust the ring by. Most clients choose not to set diamonds further than halfway around the band, which makes the resizing process less complex. Additionally, the age of the ring can influence resizing options, so it’s worth keeping this in mind. Ultimately, each ring is unique, and the specific adjustments will depend on its design and characteristics.

Do you offer both natural and lab grown diamond band engagement rings?

We exclusively work with natural diamonds for our diamond band engagement rings and do not offer lab-grown options. While we understand that the choice between natural and lab-grown stones is personal, we believe that the narrative surrounding lab-grown diamonds often lacks transparency. Our diamonds are sourced through the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, promoting conflict-free origins. Additionally, many of our suppliers are accredited members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), which upholds high standards of quality and ethical practices.
