Frequently asked questions
Learn more about our solitaire earrings, where thoughtful design meets meticulous craftsmanship.
What are solitaire earrings?
Solitaire earrings feature a single stone, typically a diamond, set in a simple, elegant setting. The focus is on the beauty of the stone itself, allowing it to take centre stage. These earrings are often chosen for their timeless appeal and versatility, as they can be worn for any occasion, from daily wear to special events. Solitaire earrings are a classic choice that highlights the stone's brilliance and can be set in various metals, including platinum and 18ct gold.
How to clean diamond solitaire earrings?
To clean your diamond solitaire earrings, take advantage of our ultrasonic cleaning service, which is the most effective option and included with your purchase. At home, mix warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid and gently scrub the earrings with a child's soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse with water and pat dry—this method works well for platinum and gold diamond earrings. For other gemstones and precious metals, please seek advice first.
Are there different types of solitaire earrings?
Yes, there are different types of solitaire earrings, primarily distinguished by the setting of the stones. The two most common are claw set and rubover set.
In a claw set design, the stones are held by small metal claws, which secure them while allowing them to remain prominent. This setting is often chosen for its classic, open appearance, especially with diamonds.
In a rubover set, the stones are encased by a smooth band of metal, offering a sleek and secure look with a more subtle finish. Both settings can be customised with different stone shapes, such as round, oval, or princess cut.
Do you offer both natural and lab grown (synthetic) diamond solitaire earrings?
We work exclusively with natural diamonds and have chosen not to offer lab-grown options. While we respect that the choice between natural and lab-grown stones is personal, we feel the narrative around lab-grown diamonds isn’t always fully transparent. We source our diamonds through the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, promoting conflict-free origins. In addition, many of our suppliers are accredited members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), ensuring high standards of quality and responsible practices.
