Frequently asked questions
Learn about our solitaire engagement rings, lovingly designed and crafted in-house.
What is a solitaire engagement ring?
A solitaire engagement ring features a single diamond as its focal point, mounted on a plain band that complements the design. Found in either a four-claw or six-claw setting, this style highlights the diamond's brilliance and beauty, ensuring the focus remains on the stone.
Solitaires are available with a range of diamond shapes, not just the round brilliant cut. This style is considered the most traditional type of engagement ring, celebrated for its timeless elegance and simplicity.
Can I customise my solitaire engagement ring?
Yes, our solitaire engagement rings are fully customisable. With a heritage in crafting and design since 1958, we specialise in bespoke creations, all made in-house to ensure each piece reflects our high standards and your personal style.
From selecting a GIA-certified diamond to choosing the precious metal and setting style, our team takes the time to understand what matters most to you, ensuring the finished ring is exactly as you envision.
Do you offer both natural and lab grown solitaire engagement rings?
We work exclusively with natural diamonds for our solitaire engagement rings and have chosen not to offer lab-grown options.
While we respect that the choice between natural and lab-grown stones is personal, we feel the narrative around lab-grown diamonds isn’t always fully transparent. We source our diamonds through the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, promoting conflict-free origins. In addition, many of our suppliers are accredited members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), ensuring high standards of quality and responsible practices.

How do I choose the right metal for my solitaire engagement ring?
Choosing the right precious metal for your solitaire engagement ring ultimately comes down to personal taste.
We offer several options: platinum, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct rose gold, and 18ct white gold. For those seeking a white metal, many prefer platinum over white gold, as it is a naturally occurring white metal that doesn’t require plating.
Incorporating two precious metals into the design, such as pairing a yellow gold band with a platinum setting, can add a unique touch and beautifully showcase the whiteness of the diamond.
What is the price range for solitaire engagement rings?
Deciding how much to spend on a solitaire engagement ring is a personal choice that varies for everyone. Our solitaire engagement rings start from around £1,500, accommodating a range of budgets to help you find the perfect ring.
Our experienced consultants can assist you in selecting the ideal solitaire that complements your vision and requirements. Don’t feel bound by the outdated rule of spending two to three months' salary; focus on what feels right for you.
Are the diamonds in your solitaire engagement rings certified?
Our diamond solitaire engagement rings with a carat weight over 0.30ct will be GIA
certified, which means they’ve been graded by the Gemmological Institute of
America, a leading authority in gemmology known for its rigorous grading standards.
What wedding band goes with a solitaire engagement ring?
Solitaire engagement rings are incredibly versatile and pair beautifully with various wedding band styles. They look great with either a plain wedding band or one set with diamonds for added sparkle. These days, there’s a fairly even split among ladies in terms of preference for plain versus diamond-set bands.
We advise matching the precious metal of both the engagement ring and wedding band, ensuring they are of the same fineness (purity). This consideration helps maintain a cohesive look and ensures both rings wear well together over time.
