Famous as the centre of the UK diamond trade, Hatton Garden interestingly takes its name from Sir Christopher Hatton, a successful politician and close advisor to Elizabeth I. He was gifted the property of Ely Place by Elizabeth l in 1581. This ravishing property boasted a beautiful garden which ultimately led to the street and surrounding area being called Hatton Garden. Jewellers over the years were offered to buy business spaces from the Hatton family as they began to sell parts of their Ely estate, therefore becoming the reputable destination for trusted experts and quality craftsmanship as we know it today.
