The Kimberly Process
The Kimberly Process was established after Southern African diamond-producing states met in Kimberley, South Africa, in 2000. The purpose of this meeting was to eliminate the trade of conflict diamonds. As a result, an international certificate scheme for rough diamond production and trade was pursued, entering into force in 2003. Significant requirements were imposed on member countries, most notably focused on the origin of the stones. The System of Warranties
