Frequently asked questions
Learn more about our half eternity rings, where thoughtful design meets meticulous craftsmanship.
What is a half eternity ring?
A half eternity ring features a continuous line of diamonds or gemstones that cover approximately half of the band, rather than encircling the entire ring. This design has become more popular than full eternity rings in recent years, offering the same symbolism of lasting commitment while being more practical. A half eternity ring represents an unbroken bond, with a simpler and more versatile appearance compared to a full eternity ring.
Can you resize a half eternity ring?
Yes, we can adjust a half eternity ring both up and down in finger size, within reasonable limits. Our jewellers use advanced laser welding techniques, which offer significant advantages over traditional methods. Laser welding uses the same metal as the original ring, ensuring a seamless and virtually invisible join. In contrast, older techniques often used gold or platinum solder with a lower melting point, which, while effective, could result in visible joins.
The ease of resizing depends on the ring’s design, as certain setting styles accommodate adjustments more easily than others. For rings that are older or heavily worn, resizing can be more challenging, and the ring’s condition must be carefully assessed to ensure its structure is preserved during the process.
Can a half eternity ring be a wedding band?
Yes, half eternity rings are often worn as wedding bands. With diamonds set halfway around the ring, they offer a brilliant sparkle and visual impact, while remaining practical and comfortable for everyday wear. This design provides the elegance of diamonds without full coverage, making it a great choice for those seeking a refined and timeless look. Half eternity rings can be worn alone or paired with an engagement ring. Consideration should be given to the height of the eternity ring, as this can influence how it sits alongside the engagement ring.
What does a half eternity ring mean?
A half eternity ring is a symbol of enduring commitment, with diamonds set halfway around the band to represent a love that continues to grow and evolve. Unlike a full eternity ring, which features stones all the way around, the half eternity design offers a balance of elegance and practicality. It’s often given to mark significant occasions, such as anniversaries, major birthdays, or the arrival of children, making it a meaningful token of love and devotion.
What is the difference between full and half eternity rings?
The difference is in the coverage of diamonds. A full eternity ring has diamonds all the way around the band, offering continuous sparkle. A half eternity ring has diamonds set only halfway around, providing the same brilliance with added comfort and easier resizing.
Do you offer both natural and lab grown diamond half eternity rings?
We work exclusively with natural diamonds for our diamond half eternity rings and have chosen not to offer lab-grown options. While we respect that the choice between natural and lab-grown stones is personal, we feel the narrative around lab-grown diamonds isn’t always fully transparent. We source our diamonds through the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties, promoting conflict-free origins. In addition, many of our suppliers are accredited members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), ensuring high standards of quality and responsible practices.
